When Joshua was a tiny baby he would get fussy. If it was too cold to take him out, I would put him in his car seat and put it securely on the tumble dryer and switch the tumble dryer on. I would stand nearby with my hand on the machine, of course! The white noise from the tumble dryer and the gentle rocking imitates that of a car and calmed him down very quickly. It worked for me and for others I know!!
