Becoming a parent and being able to buy clothing, toys and books for your children that you know they will love is a simple pleasure. Unfortunately, it can also be a strain on your wallet.

We took to our social media sites and asked parents on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share how they shop for their kids. Are they full-price shoppers, bargain hunters or do they frequent factory shops?

Here are their answers.

Shopping for kids

I'm a full price shopper. I don't shop often but when I do, I go big. I'm too impatient to wait for sales or mission to factory stores. I don't enjoy being in the shops so I do whatever I can to be in and out fast. That said, my son's Earth Addict, Naartjie and Woolies clothes are mostly from my folks, and his PnP clothes are from me! - Stella

I've recently become a bargain buyer but at times the shopaholic in me takes over, especially when it's something I'm lusting after. - @madamemacaronsa

I always keep an eye out for specials, especially nappies! I also don't buy expensive or name brand clothing, I'll wait until she's older for that. - @nabster1412

I love factory shops and sales but if there is something I really like for my kids I'll buy it at a retail shop. Also China Town has some nice options at reasonable prices. - Gezell

Usually wait for the specials. Or I wait till my birthday then my mum buys him clothes as my gift. - @cupcakemummy

I like specials. Factory shops are always out the way. - Nuraan

I used to buy stuff randomly and realised I spend way too much. I now buy at factory shops and wait for sales. - @mapeumogoera

I frequent factory shops while waiting for real specials. - Kgaugelo

We are more impulsive, when I see something I like I get it. But I have a few brands that I keep an eye on for sales because with three kids it's just impossible to pay full price. - @cindyalfino

Whatever they need, they get. Price doesn't matter. - Candice

I'm a terrible impulse shopper. I go to Woolies for a long sleeved t-shirt and autumn pjs for Charly, and end up with an entire winter wardrobe. Nappies I buy in bulk on Takealot; always the cheapest on offer. - @pregnantinct

Now it's your turn to share - what kind of shopper are you?
