As a first time expecting mom, one of the things that you are your partner are going to discuss is what kind of crib to get. Do you get a camping cot, which is easy to assemble and to lug around and comes with all kinds of convenient attachements to make your life as easy as possible? Or do you go with a more traditional wooden cot, that will make a beautiful addition to your nursery and often comes with the option to turn into a bed for when your child reaches that stage.
So we turned to our trusted Facebook moms and asked them what they preferred. Here's what they had to say:
My son is 2.5 years old and we used the traditional cot about 4 times altogether... camp cot! New baby on the way will use the traditional one as its still brand new. - Debbie Jean Malton
Definitely camping cot. Had it for my first two and then bought traditional wooden one for my last child. Regret it quite badly cause he often bumps his head against the wooden slats. He is a restless sleeper and tosses and turns quite a bit. Looks prettier but not very practical. - Tasleem Bapoo
Traditional - had the pull system locks for which little one's arms were too short to open simultaneously. also looked nicer. - Tracey-Lee Braunger
Having used both, I preferred the traditional cot. The camping cot was a nightmare to assemble and repack away. We hardly used to it out and about. I also thought the traditional cot looked better in the nursery room. My mother gave me my old traditional cot which is about 40 years old so our traditional cot was extra special. - Andrea Tomasicchio
Both if possible and if you intend to travel, but for home definitely traditional with a bumper. - Roxanne Higham
Save your money, there's room in your bed and much more fun and practical for everyone! - Veronica-maie Giai-Coletti
It depends what type of person you are. Traditional cot if you love decorating and routine. - Yolande Viljoen
