The exclusive choice of pram for the Royal Baby is, according to Home24, “Bugaboo’s special-edition Cameleon3 design baby stroller”. This public knowledge means the company will enjoy a likely surge in sales. Interestingly, however, Special Edition Cameleon3 models underwent a manufacturer’s recall earlier in 2013 for safety reasons after it was found that “The carrying handle on the Cameleon3 model stroller can break off causing you to drop your baby.” (US Consumer Product Safety Commission).

What about your pram?

Bugaboo have made an appeal to purchasers to ensure that the Cameleon3 product which they have purchased has already had the fix recommended in order to avoid injury, and have made information available to consumers via their official website.

Affected models:

Bugaboo Cameleon
Serial Number 04011090900001 to 04031101009999
Serial Number 08011090900001 to 08021100800386
Serial Number 140100093600531 to 140103123350418
Bugaboo Donkey

Serial Number 170101105300001 to 170104130900500

If you’re the owner of a Bugaboo Special Edition Cameleon3 stroller, it is recommended that you consult the website in order to check whether or not the serial number of your product is one which has been placed under recall.

Of course, we’re certain that Kate and Will will make every effort to ensure the safety of their child, so it’s probable that the pram which they purchased has already had the handle replaced.

No injuries have been reported yet as a result of babies falling from the product, although there have been 58 reported incidents of the handles coming off.

The exclusive pram may cost as much as R13 000 locally, and is popular in Europe and the States with A-listers.
