Why vaccinate your baby?
5 reasons to vaccinate your child.

The Department of Health recommends a wide range of vaccines for babies from birth. Here’s why:
Vaccines are one of the most important strategies available to help prevent the contraction and spread of infectious diseases.

5 reasons for vaccination:
1. In the past, before vaccines, many children died or had severe complications affecting their health and the health of their families after infections.

2. Vaccines have helped to get rid of certain diseases completely (such as smallpox) while others are now very uncommon (such as measles and polio) as the result of regular vaccination against these illnesses.

3. The more people vaccinated, the more successful the vaccination programme will be. This is because there will be fewer people the organism can infect.

4. When fewer people are infected, there will be less transmission of the organism, which can lead to the eradication of more diseases.

5. Some organisms that cause infection can be found in various wild or domestic animals (sometimes without causing disease in these animals). In such cases it would be much more difficult to eradicate the organism completely, but vaccination would still prevent humans from getting the disease.
