Babies riding Roomba vacuum cleaners are the latest internet sensation.

Judging by Youtube, the reason many parents have kids is to conduct amusing experiments on them. Babies eating lemons, babies dressed as super heroes and babies being licked by dogs are among some of our favourites. The latest viral sensation is slightly odder, and probably not terribly safe: Babies riding Roombas.

Riding the wind

The round vacuum cleaner is designed to scoot around the floors sucking up the dust as it travels at a reserved pace throughout the house. Several videos of babies placed on top of the hovering hoovers have now been compiled into a hilarious video.

As one of the parents suggests, it’s probably not something recommended in the manufacturer’s handbook, but that never stops our intrepid moms and dads of Youtube. The babies seem happy enough, if a little mystified, as they take their leisurely trips around the house.

Roombas and babies are both available locally.

Disclaimer for parents who may not have much common sense:

As far as we can tell, none were harmed during the course of filming, but viewer discretion is advisable. As a responsible parenting site, we should probably add a disclaimer we never could have imagined would be necessary: Warning: Roombas are not meant to be used as little cars for babies. Injuries which would be hard to explain at the ER may result.
