IN PICS: Is it just us, or did Amy Schumer just get funnier after giving birth?

You may have been too preoccupied with Amy Schumer’s “nemesis” Meghan Markle, to know that just hours before the Duchess of Sussex gave birth, so too did the always hilarious comedian.

“10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born,” she wrote on Instagram, shortly followed by a post revealing the name of her baby boy: Gene Attell Fischer.

Amy’s been serving comedy gold with her pregnancy diaries, updating us throughout her 9-month journey.

Days before she gave birth she even joked about the fact that it’s been forever and she’s still pregnant. “It must be getting annoying to you all that I’m still pregnant? Well imagine how I feel... #soblessed#hatemondaysloveweekendstho,” she wrote.

But the day finally arrived, and while everyone was dressed head-to-toe in ruffles and frills on their way to the Met Gala, she rocked up in sweatpants-chic to the hospital.

Amy’s said before, she absolutely hates being pregnant at the same time as her “nemesis”, her royal highness, the Duchess of Sussex.

"You know who it’s not fun to be pregnant at the same time as? Meghan Markle! She’s walking around in heels and cradling her baby that’s not even there, and I’m barely wearing underwear,” she joked.

And since giving birth, we’re happy to know her sense of humour hasn’t dwindled. If anything she’s just been serving up more looks – witty banter included.

She did admit that motherhood is no easy feat though, and it did take a whole team – a village if you will – to get her through pregnancy and the birth process.

But she did conclude, in true Amy Schumer fashion, becoming a mom, and perhaps in a tribute to all moms, “Women are the shit.”

Ok here’s my post baby annoying post and my takeaway from pregnancy. Women are the shit. Men are cool and whatever but women are fucking warriors and capable of anything. I was lucky enough to get to have a doula. Her name @domino_kirke @carriagehousebirth what do doulas do? I don’t totally know But what she did was make me and Chris feel totally secure and supported throughout my pregnancy and the birth process. I really recommend getting one if you can. Doctor Brill and all the nurses and pediatricians at Lenox Hill and all the other hospitals i spent time in this year, thank you for everything. I did Pilates with strong women and went for walks. I threw up violently and felt sick mostly every day of my pregnancy. Hyperemesis is real and it’s awful. But fuck, what they say is true. The second you give birth it’s gone. @hgmoms has the best research I found on the condition The only thing that helped me with my nausea was products from @thelordjones I learned that globally 1 in 5 births take place without the assistance of a skilled birth attendant. @everymomcounts is a great place to donate $250 equips a midwife with a bag of medical equipment needed to provide care to hundreds of women and babies in Guatemala. All my friends. Friends I’ve had for 30 years or people who encouraged me to “keep going” or telling me “it will be worth it”. Thank you. Every woman I encountered is so willing to help and advise you and I felt all their strength. And you were right. Thank you ladies from my family. Chris, Gene and of course Tatiana #titsleaking #wearingadiaper
