While the woman’s identity is currently still unknown, it is definitely a cause for concern as people are now looking to track down the location of the toddler and hand the case over to authorities.

According to the Dailymail, worried web users desperately try to identify the pair in order to alert the authorities.

However the search has been hindered due to lack of information regarding the picture or its origins.

Furthermore, sources say that the image apparently originated from Argentina, suggesting the woman pictured is Latin American.

The gun, which looks to be a pistol, is shown being held between the toddler’s eyes. The images were posted on an Argentinean Facebook page about a month ago and has since gone viral.

It is not known whether the gun is in fact real or simply a capgun or a prop weapon. Many people have suggested that even if it is some sort of replica, it is nonetheless irresponsible to expose such a young child to gun violence.

Social media outrage

Facebook users have reacted with outrage to the image, with some calling it 'downright evil'.

This is not the first time a picture with an adult pointing a gun at a child has surfaced, there have been many reports of similar images which have been posted on social media networks.
