Tot operates huge digger

Many kids dream of the day they’ll be able to operate monster trucks, bulldozers and fast cars. Very few actually get to play with the real thing instead of pocket-sized miniatures. 3-year-old William from Norway is an exception: His dad claims it’s totally safe to let him operate a man-sized excavator, and, surprisingly, the tiny child is able to do it as if he was born to dig.

He manhandles (toddlerhandles?) the controls, shifting the arm of the monster construction equipment as if it’s an extension of his own body. Operating the heavy machinery while safely strapped in, he moves tons of gravel.

What would YOU do?

Parents often decide that being over-protective can keep a child from experiencing some of life’s amazing potential. Many children are allowed behind the wheels of a car long before they are old enough to pass their driver’s licence. Sometimes it happens in parking lots or off-road on farm lands, and sometimes just in long driveways. Anywhere other road users aren’t at risk.

Then again, there are immense risks in allowing a child to take the controls of a vehicle without the correct training, not to mention the possibility that the parent responsible could be arrested for endangering a child.

Perhaps it’s not the wisest thing in the world to do, but it sure looks like fun!
