Most bizarre baby seat EVER?

accreditation
There will be a few lucky babies on Christmas morning this year: Even though they’re just months old and probably incapable of opening the wrapping paper, they’ll be receiving a brand new baby chair fitted with a built-in iPad frame to keep your baby entertained, according to Amazon.com. But wait… Surely a baby shouldn’t be strapped into a chair being bombarded with images and sounds?

Child abuse accusations

The FisherPrice seat has already been launched on Amazon, but the reviews are mixed: Most commonly, reviewers of the product are saying why on earth would a baby need an iPad? Childhood development experts have, for the most part, insisted that screen-based activities for under-twos are inappropriate, according to Huffington Post.

The FisherPrice iPad Apptivity Seat Newborn to Toddler ad on Amazon.com notes that the seat allows the baby to play with his mom’s iPad without dribbling on it, which is a fair point, and also makes the point that the rigid frame prevents the device from being hurled in a fit of baby rage across the room after a bad round of Angry Birds.

Amazon has selected the product as one of the “gifts of the season” for 2013.

Reviewers of the product are saying it’s totally inappropriate for kids, as babies should be learning how to get mobile and active rather than getting strapped in to a chair with a screen. They’re even calling for Amazon.com to remove the product. Note: iPad is NOT included with the product.
