Inside Out wins at the Oscars!

accreditation

The Annual Academy Awards went down on Sunday and one of my favourite kids movies, Inside Out won for Best Animated Feature Film. One of the reasons is that one of the greatest women to bless us with her acting and also her amazing influence. She's smart, she's funny, she's Amy Poehler.

We've watched this movie at least 6 million times (this is just a rough estimate) and it's yet to wear out it's welcome. Watching this as a parent, my toddler suddenly made a bit more sense to me.

The part where Riley refuses the broccoli and went through a range of emotions in a few seconds looked so familiar to me!

This movie has so many layers and I think that's why it appeals to both parents and kids. Because while I love all the nuances and intricacies when it comes to explaining your child's changing emotions. My 2-year-old son loves all the silly fun and especially Riley's imaginary friend, Bing Bong.

But what else was nominated?

Of the five nominated movies I have only seen 2: Inside Out and the Shaun the Sheep Movie which is also a firm favourite around these parts. What's great about that movie is that there is no dialogue and kids who don't understand what would have been said are not missing out on the story line. It's a fun film and my kid loves dancing to the songs.

I've not heard of Anomalisa or Boy and the World but having watched the trailers Anomalisa is definitely not aimed at kids while Boy and the World looks like something my son might enjoy. Studio Ghibli's When Marnie Was There is on my list of films to see. My son loves Studio Ghibli movies, his favourites being My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle.

Take a look at the rest of the trailers below:
