Before and after
What if your child simply says 'no'?
Before I had my daughter, I read in the parenting books that one should offer a child a choice of two things that you’d be equally happy with rather than one which they could turn down, e.g. “Would you like to wear the blue dress or the red dress?” rather than asking “would you like to put on your dress?”.

My child obviously read a different book because when I say would she like the blue one or the red one, she simply says "No".
