I've heard horror stories about hospital births. At a very fancy private hospital near me a mom bled to death from her doctor's mistake.
It's more about the people who deliver your baby, you have to trust them, they are humans just like you and me. Home birth is unsafe if you're not in the right hands. Hospital birth is unsafe if you're in the wrong hands. Many, many women die each year IN HOSPITAL from poor handling.
If you don't feel right with someone, find someone who you feel comfortable with and trust. Midwives go through medical training specially and handle most hospital births until the last minute when the doctor arrives.
