When my kid is sick...well, as I write this, both my children (3 months and 23 months) are flu-ey and feeling grotty.
Am I grumpy about it?
Actually, my first major discovery about being a mother really surprised me - when your kids are sick, you suddenly do not mind not sleeping all night, you spend all your spare time racking your brain and googling symptoms to try find ways to make them more comfortable, you willingly invest in heavy-duty humidifers and pain-relieving remedies, and you find you spend most of the night hovering outside doors listening for breathing and simply wanting to hold that little sweaty body in your arms, to keep that small head tucked under your chin, feel that little heart beating so quickly against yours, and desperately use all your maternal charms to try soothe away their pain!
