Since I was a little girl putting curlers in my Dad’s hair playing “hairdresser”, to arriving home late one night as a teenager to be met by my worried father; to seeing his eyes light up when he first saw his grandson, my Dad has been there for me, my hero.
I grew up in a female dominated home – a mum, a sister, the dogs were, bar one, always female and probably even the goldfish! How pleased Dad must have been when I married to finally have some male company to hear his side of the story. Yet Dad never made an issue of being the only male, he loved us unconditionally.
The love I have I have for my Dad is so great that words cannot describe it. I respect my Father for all he knows, all he represents and for all he means to all those that cross his path. He is truly a remarkable man who always strives to make things right. If a street light isn’t working, Dad will make the call to report it. If something at my house needs fixing, Dad is there to offer advice or lend a helping hand.
I admire my Father for how hard he has worked in his life and for all he has given his family. He has dedicated his life to his “girls”, our wonderful Mum included. He has certainly taught me to want to be a better person and I hope that my children grow up with their Bumpa’s great passion for all they do.
In March 2006 my Dad suffered a near fatal heart attack. He was miraculously revived and recovered 100% from surgery. God spared him to us, and for this we are so blessed to still have our Dad and more than ever we cherish each memory we share with him.
