I will always tell my 4-year-old son the truth as to why he cannot do something or get something, he will then ask why another 50 times until your hair stands up on your neck even though you gave him an answer.
After much frustration I will proceed to call him by his name and tell him how much I love him, it generally puts him of his whying, he will then just look down and say I love you too Mommy, by then he would have forgotten what he asked.
