Nurse mom on duty

accreditation
When my kid is sick...

...I have that cold sweaty moment when I am convinced that I am going to lose this precious child and then sanity prevails and I go into overdrive trying to establish just what could be wrong.

I think this works for me, I have managed to make an early diagnosis, along with the help of "real" doctors of course, of chickenpox, insulin resistance, sinusitus and some other minor problems associated with the aforementioned.

As far as the nursing aspect is concerned, I tend to do like most mothers, faff around the patient for the first 24 hours and then when she cottons on to the fact that "nurse" might be manipulated into some treat or another by an extra cough or groan placed timeously into the sick day, get slightly irritated by the constant demands.

But no matter how irritated I might get, the next time my little girl is sick, "Nurse Mom" will be on duty again, wishing someone else could take over after the first 24 hours!

Being a single Mom when your child is sick is no joke, there is no one to take over for an hour or two and it feels very lonely when the front door is closed behind you and the night draws in.

I wouldn't change it for the world!

Thanks for the opportunity.

Regards

Sharon
