Suffering from endometriosis

I read this article with great interest as there is not a lot of information on this illness out there.

I fell ill about 6 years ago every month when my period was due. The problem is that you cannot quite describe the pain and the symptoms are different for everyone depending on the location of the endometriosis. After a laparoscopy and laparotomy tests revealed that it was colon cancer.

When the surgeon went in he saw that it wasn’t cancer but endometriosis that blocked my colon and he performed a partial colectomy.  After the operation we were told that the endometriosis was aggressive and if we want to do fertility we should do it soon as within a year I’ll be back on the operating table. We tried Clomid as well and did one AI. We then decided to stop fertility as it’s so expensive. It’s a relief to hear others’ stories as at the time you think you’re losing your mind as no one can quite figure out what’s wrong.

My husband also rather wanted me to be healthy instead of trying to get pregnant and being ill all the time.

Thank you Venetia for sharing your story.
