Things to do with your kids in Jozi over the holidays
Don't let your kids sit at home these holidays, check out some fun events you can attend in Jozi and make some new memories.
1. Christmas and all that Jazz
The Theatre on the Square: Be captivated by the
Theatre on the Square located on the Nelson Mandela Square. The 200-seater
theatre is home to an array of outstanding productions including plays,
musicals, lunch hour and children's theatre, in addition to numerous corporate
events, concerts, industrial theatre and a regular youth theatre training
programme in the performing arts.
This festive season concert producer Anthony
Yoko, in association with Daphne Kuhn proudly present their annual holiday show
Christmas... and all that JAZZ! This is truly a jazz concert with a difference,
featuring the fabulous singer/entertainer Cat Simoni and her boys, comprising
the American jazz pianist John Fresk with Graeme Currie on Double Bass and Tony
Yoko on the drums plus special guests!
2. The children’s festive wonderland
Children’s favourites Paw Patrol, Dora &
Friends (for the first time in South Africa) and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are the
star attractions at the Children’s Festive Wonderland, which takes place at
Sandton City from December 9 to 24.
These favourite Nickelodeon characters
(DStv Channel 305) are in Johannesburg for holiday entertainment at its best
for the entire family. There will be four free stage shows every day plus three
meet-and-greet sessions with your favourite TV characters, as well as plenty of
fun in a giant Lego area. Entrance for all activities is free of charge.
3. Fun at Menlyn Park shopping centre
Park Shopping Centre has launched three fantastic gift-wrapping pop-up stores,
with all proceeds going to Smile Foundation. Each of the beautifully designed
stores offers a unique experience, catering for every shopper’s needs.Santa’s
Workshop is aimed at the busy mom, and provides fantastic entertainment for
kids. “Santa has come to visit Menlyn and children can have their picture taken
with him and his elves,” says Olive Ndebele, general manager of Menlyn Park
Daily activities are scheduled and face painting is offered. For
those with a creative bent, the Craft Workshop is the place to use your own
ideas to give your gifts that personal touch. All the wrapping items you need
to make wrapping fun and exciting are on hand, and gifts can be wrapped from as
little as R20 each. Complimentary popcorn and drinks are available. If being
pampered is what you really need this December, then The Luxe pop-up store is
the answer. Have a head massage and sip on a glass of bubbly while staff wrap
your gifts, making Christmas shopping a joyful pleasure.
