My son is 5 turning 6 soon and has started preparing for grade 1 but his reading is way behind his peers and I'm beginning to worry that he wont be able to cope next year. I read to him every night before bed and was hoping you could suggest some books we can read together to help him get to grips with his letters?

You do not have to worry too much, boys are reluctant readers especially at a younger age but he will be fine.Oxford has a nice range called Read at home they have educational theme and they have beautiful illustrations.Also Lady Bird is got similar structured titles and they are as good as Oxford.I included some links for you to look at, they are quit a variety phonics, how to read and write and he can read it on their own.
