Susan de Wet
I was born in Johannesburg – I breathed thin air for 22 years and then followed my varsity love to greener Cape Town.
I completed my nursing degree at RAU (now University of Johannesburg) and gained nursing experience in various hospitals in Cape Town as Nursing Sister. I worked a few years in the cardiac ICU’s but my passion in the NICU was short lived (7 years) because of this little habit I have of constantly having kids!
My Sons – Rudi (8) and Andre and Eben (5) sometimes make me wonder why I ever went off the Pill - but I will not change a thing if I have to do it over. The only time I have the luxury of a dry toilet seat is by leaving the seat up after I used the loo! I am convinced males are from a different planet – but still the female specie fall in love and have the most beautiful babies with them.
In the last few years I have been building my private nursing practice, advising parents and immunising babies. I run ante Natal classes at Panorama Medi Clinic as well as crash courses on Saturdays. I am vice chair of the Twins and Triplet society and I have just completed my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Accreditation). I suppose it makes me an expert on lactation – but every day I still learn something new.
