I have a 14 yr old son.He is a very well mannered and respeting child.The only problem is that he has a learning diffuculty. He repeated his Grade 2 and also repeated Grade 5 and thus still in Grade 5.As a mother i tried teaching him at home, but nothing seems to help. My son is however epileptic which i do not know if it has an effect on his learning difficulty.This is really worrying as it seems like he will have to repeat every grade.Please advise.

You have not specified what the learning difficulty is, who diagnosed it, and what were the recommendations in terms of interventions and the way forward? With regard to the Epilepsy, it can most definitely impact on a child’s performance in the school setting, as seizures will impact on concentration and working memory in the classroom. Your medical doctor will advise you with regard to the effective treatment of the Epilepsy, but the educational psychologist who made the diagnosis of the learning difficulty will need to advise you on what support structures and interventions will be required. I cannot advise you as you have not specified what the learning difficulty is.

i have an orphan child staying near me with great grand mother who cannot help I am helping with home work my worry is he like repeating every class- can you help he is now 11 years old -doing cgrade 4 thanks JOYCE
