My 7-year-old son has Sensory Integration Disorder especially with auditory processing. He is in Grade 1 but we have been advised to let him repeat Grade 1 at a remedial school. It seems that the only options in cape Town are Pro Ed and Oakley House. Both seem very good but both are very expensive! Do you know if one is better than the other in dealing with children with sensory issues? Or are there other remedial schools that I am unaware of? Thank you.

Oakley House and Pro-Ed are both good, but expensive. There is also Vista Nova -- which is state funded LSEN school in Rondebosch. I am biased as this is where I am based, but I can also tell you that we have a fantastic team of occupational and physio therapists as well as fairly good resources given the state funding. Vista Nova has students with a very wide range of difficulties so would be able to cater to your child's needs. Vera is another LSEN state school in the area but I think they focus more on Autistic Spectrum disorders.

There is also Tafelberg in Bothasig that is very good. They also have the speach,OT, remedial etc available at the school. The classes are small and the staff are really good with the kids.
