Placenta Previa
Hi Marlise
I am 30 weeks pregnant, and last week I was admitted by my OBGYN due to some light bleeding. He ran tests and asked questions, then concluded that I had a low-lying placenta.
He immediately told me that I would most likely have to have a c-section and that he would try to ensure that this did not happen before 34 weeks. I freaked out and was just a wreck after hearing the news. my birth plan, completely natural, was basically being written out.
But after reading up on the condition, of which I had never heard before, I realised there is a possibility of the situation naturally subsiding and I could still have the natural birth I plan.
How do I present my findings on the matter to my OBGYN without sounding as if I think I know better with all his knowledge and experience? I think he's a great doctor, but I also feel that he doesn't understand the importance of natural birth to me.
