My 8 yr old daughter has been said to be very "bossy", ie MY WAY OR NO WAY. when she was at creche, the teacher told us to look at it as her being a good leader. i on the other hand think that it depends on how she uses this trait. i've noticed that she's "bossy" only with certain peers. she is very bright and also very mature. I sometimes find that she's open to compromise .how do i manage this in a positvie manner?

I am not a psychologist, and this question may be better answered by one, but from my perspective, I’d suggest exploring this with her… At 8 years old, children have a great response to role play… You can use dolls to be different people and one can be bossy, one can be meek, one can be lively etc. You can then have discussions about how the dolls feel when each says something, and help your child to identify which behaviours are bossy and which are not, without pointing a finger at her….
