Q.

Car seat laws South Africa

Good day I am South African but live in the US. We'll be in SA later this year and our son will be 10-11 months old. What are the car seat laws in SA? In the US it's rear-facing till at least 1 year of age. Will a shuttle service for instance be required to have the car seat rear facing for our son (we requested a car seat). Thank you

There are no laws regarding rear-facing for babies in South Africa BUT there is a law that the babies under 3 years old must be buckled up in a baby car-seat, restrained by the vehicle's seat-belts. It is highly recommended though that babies under the age of 1 years-old must be rear-facing and preferably in the back seat.
