As a child I remember putting my tooth that had just fallen out into a slipper and knowing that the next morning there would be a shiny new R5 coin in it's place. I was fully aware that one of my parents would be doing this. I had no delusions of a tooth fairy but by gods, I would get that R5!
Twitter user @jemimamadsen asked what the going rate for a tooth was and we posed the question to our Twitter and Facebook followers. Here's what they had to say:

Oh my word now I'm scared!! My baby is 15 months and has only just got 4 teeth! Think I'll start a fund and put R10 into a jar for each tooth she gets so when they fall out its not going to rock the budget!! Wow hahahaha - Hayley Markham

We gave R20 for 1st tooth. Now it's R10 a tooth. He has a tooth mouse pillow that says 'no cheques or coins accepted'. Otherwise it would be R5 a tooth :) - Rebecca Van Eeden
