Dads, you know what's really sexy? You, doing housework

"Sending sexy pics to the wife like..."

If I had a R5 coin for every time someone made a comment about a woman’s place in the kitchen or our God-given instinct to clean, I’d have enough money to employ a man in a black and white French maid uniform to dust off the table tops for me.

Cooking, cleaning – housework in general – has formed part of the long list of tasks traditionally reserved for women in the family. And I don’t want to be that womxn or anything, but then those tasks reserved for men usually sees them changing the oil on their souped-up cars and building houses from the ground up with their bare hands – Ryan-Gosling-in-the-Notebook-style.

Right?

No?

Well, of course, it sounds pretty ridiculous when you I put it like that because no one really expects men to take on traditionally masculine roles to that degree. But in many homes women are still expected to do most, if not all, the household chores anyway.

You know what would be nice though? Sharing the load. And I don’t mean I come 90%, you come 10% (10 being occasionally taking out the dust bin), but actually taking on an equal amount of work in the home. So how about I mow the lawn and you can light all my fires by literally repacking the shelves I asked you to 3 weeks ago.

Brandon Sillings recently posted a series of images of himself doing chores around the house. He captioned it, “Sending sexy pics to the wife like…” as he bit his lip, laundry basket in hand.

There’s an image of him smirking while working heavy machinery, a.k.a. the vacuum cleaner, posing alongside a degreased sink, and taking out the trash. Obviously the post went viral, but most of the comments seemed to be from women just tagging their partners.

So our advice to dads everywhere: Take the hint!

Sext us an image of things that really fire us up: like spotless table tops.
