I was an only child for 13 years! I was so resigned to the fact that I would never have siblings that by the time my baby brother was introduced to me, all wrapped up in a warm blanket with his tiny eyes closed and his baby mouth opened in a yawn, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with a sibling.

Over the years, we've had our fair share of arguments but we've also been so supportive of one another. I yell the loudest at his football matches and he gets excited about what's happening in my life too. In fact, it's hard to image what life as an only child was like. There may be a huge age gap between me and by siblings (13 and 24) but I love those little kids like my own and they inspire and encourage me to always be a better version of myself and to work hard so they can have someone good, kind and wholesome to look up to.

There are tons of celebrities who feel the same about their siblings. Here our favourite quotes from the rich and famous about what their siblings mean to them.

Venus and Serena Williams

This tennis powerhouse duo needs no introduction. Venus has won seven grand slam titles and Serena has won 23. They are the first two tennis players to ever play in four consecutive Grand Slam singles titles and they keep pushing each other to be their best. While they have competed against each other many times, both sisters have said that playing against the other is always the toughest match they had ever played.

"She's the toughest player I ever played in my life, and the best person I know." – Serena Williams on her sister Venus Williams.

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles

The Knowles sisters are musical geniuses who are inspired by and inspire other female black artists to make statements with their music. Solange has affirmed many times how protective she is over her older sister and Beyoncé has referenced her sister in her songs, normally stating how her Beyoncé has taught her to be assertive.

"I admire her, and though she's five years younger than me, I strive to be like her. She's so smart and secure. She's sensitive to people's feelings, but not afraid of what they think." – Beyoncé when Essence asked about her and Solange's relationship.

In a 2017 interview for Interview Magazine, Beyoncé got to interview her sister for the magazine's cover story. She asked her if she did a good job as a big sister, to which Solange responded: "You did a kickass job. You were the most patient, loving, wonderful sister ever. In the 30 years that we’ve been together, I think we’ve only really, like, butted heads … we can count on one hand."

Bella, Gigi and Anwar Hadid

It's very rare to have two supermodels in a family, let alone three! The Hadid siblings have taken the covers of all fashion magazines by storm and have young teens obsessed with who they're dating, what they're wearing and what they've posted on Instagram. Bella and Anwar are big ambassadors for Lyme's disease, since both of them are living with it. Gigi has been supportive in helping them campaign for more research and shedding light on the disease.

During a red carpet interview, Gigi expressed her anguish at watching her siblings being pain in from the illness. "What's been hardest for me is just trying to find a way to be their hope and kind of be a strength for them even with the disease that I can't understand fully because I haven't been through it," she said.

Dakota and Elle Fanning

The blonde starlettes have admitted to never being close as children and having nothing in common. Dakota, who is four years older than her sister, shot to fame at the age of seven for her breathtaking role in the film I Am Sam, while her sister only began acting a few years later. Dakota has said that now that they're older, they are getting closer and closer.

In a recent interview with W Magazines, Elle said that she cries watching her older sister's old interviews because she was "so cute".

Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal

Maggie and Jake were the first siblings to both be nominated for academy awards in the 21st century. Jake is Maggie's biggest fan and always mentions how proud he is of his sister.

"I am inherently a little brother – that's just my nature. It has to do with my sister being very strong and wanting to protect me. It's the natural order of things. That's the way my sister feels about me in every aspect of my life – my work, my relationships. Women have to pass her test. That's very hard for girlfriends. But I love that about Maggie. When we were younger, there was a typical sibling competition between us. She was always telling me what to do. I always lost – no matter what."

Mary-Kate, Ashley and Elizabeth Olsen

Hollywood's most famous twins burst onto the scene by playing the same character on Full House, and they later became Tinseltown's It girls. After growing up in the public eye, they decided to leave acting to pursue a career in fashion and have since focused on their fashion line. Their younger sister, Elizabeth, is holding her own as an actress in Hollywood. She says that her sisters taught her so much about fame and how to maintain a personal life when everyone wants to know EVERYTHING that's happening in your life.

"You know, even if you don’t think anyone’s going to read this article, someone might pull the quote later [for something else].’ It’s all part of how you hope someone interprets you, and how they frame who you are and the work you do. [My sisters are] very tight-lipped – notoriously so," the 29-year-old told Modern Luxury magazine.

Luke, Chris and Liam Hemsworth

The Australian siblings have been acting for years, first starting on Australians soap operas and then moving their talents to America. Chris has been quoted saying that their older brother, Luke, was the reason they caught the acting bug after they watched him acting on TV. The siblings are all very close and never miss out on a chance to poke fun at each other during interviews. They say that the competition is all banter and that they all really love and support each other.

"People try to pair us off like there's this vicious competitiveness, and, 'Arghhh! You got that part and I didn't' and stuff, which isn't the case. Get us at home, playing cricket or football or surfing or something and, yeah, there's a great rivalry there – a very healthy one," Chris told Entertainment Tonight.
