Around the world families are in lockdown.
While SA might be under one of the stricter lockdown protocols, it's what we need to stay safe and healthy as Covid-19 wreaks havoc through the global population.
With this comes a unique situation though. Unable to leave home, we're finding new ways to connect, and to explore.
One of the more exciting options, which I recently discovered with my family, is the ability to take virtual tours of a variety of exciting places around the world.
Here are some of my favourites:
Top of my bucket list (or at least next to Kilimanjaro) is the Great Wall of China.
And while a virtual stroll doesn't match the real thing, I'm sure, this digital tour was actually quite breathtaking.
Next up is the Old City of Jerusalem, and since I spent a year working and travelling in Israel, I had my own experiences to compare to this virtual holy pilgrimage. I enjoyed rediscovering old haunts, and reminders of my adventures.
The voice over is handy as it offers an explanation of each stop on the tour.

This walk through the world's largest natural cave, accompanied by the sounds of water and exotic bird life, was incredible, and temporarily made me forget that we're facing a global pandemic.
If I'm honest with myself, I'll probably never go to Tajikstan.
But thanks to this virtual tour, the whole family just spent a good half hour touring the countries impressive scenery, and we forgot we can't leave home.
The site offers plenty of other options too.
One of seven virtual tours offered through Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel tour is one of my favourites.
As an former art student, I marveled at the painting, and impressed on my kids just how incredible a feat this was.
Whatever your thoughts on the British monarchy might be, taking a snoop through the Queen's official residence was quite entertaining, as were the notes included at each stop.
Closer to home, but just as exciting, is the Kruger National Park, and now you can take a game drive from your couch, twice a day, thanks to their fascinating tours.
