Co-parenting when you're divorced can be tricky. Even though you're not together anymore, you're both committed to doing the best for your kids. But life and schedules can make this difficult. Creating parenting schedules and plans that you're both happy with, who needs to pay for what extra curricular or doctor's visit and just planning your lives when you're a blended family are a few of the hurdles you have to navigate when you're co-parenting.

There are many co-parenting apps out there but AppClose is a pretty good one. It's beautifully designed with bright colours and best of all it's free.

We take a look at its main features below:

Parenting schedule

Who has the kids when? Coming up with a parenting schedule that takes into account every family's different situation and custody agreement can be a bit of a mathematical problem. AppClose has 11 schedules for you to choose from as well as the option to create a custom one if there isn't one to suit your family.

Your child's details

All your child's important information are all kept in one place:

  • School and doctor's contact information,
  • Medical information such as immunisations, allergies, medications that need administering as well as a wellness log for if you need to let the other parent know the symptoms of any sickness.
  • Measurements: Kids grow so fast sometimes you just can't remember their shoe size or clothing size.
  • Details of any other childcare providers such as homework club, babysitters or nannies.

Payments and requests

Unfortunately if you are outside of the USA you won't be able to make payments via the app as Dwolla (an online payment system) is only available in the US. But all is not lost, the app is still useful as you can:

  • Still make reimbursement requests and keep track of payments via the app but you won't be able to make actual payments in the app unless you're in the US.
  • Make trade requests if you need to switch days or if you rearrange the schedule.
  • Request the other parent pick up or drop off a child at school, an event or a playdate. This is great because there can never be a miscommunication of who is picking up which kid when. It's all in the app.

Calendar view

The calendar view allows you to see your parenting schedule, your personal calendar and any events your kids have coming up. When creating events for your kids in the calendar such as an upcoming swimming gala or any sort of extra curricular events, you can choose to share it with your co-parent as well as set reminders. You're not able to see your co-parent's personal calendar.

Chats and attorney communication

You can also make sure that all chats between co-parents happen within the app. This way all conversations are documented and your attorney has access to all of this.

A great feature of this app is that you can get your family advocate on board and communicate with them via the app if need be. Your attorney will need to download a separate app which they can find here.

AppClose

All in all this is a fantastic app to make co-parenting a lot easier. It would certainly make communication easier as well as making life easier by keeping everything in one place.

Download AppClose on iOS and Android for free.

Would you use this app? Or is something like this not needed? Send your thoughts to chatback@parent24.com and we could publish them.
