Darian Depreta was in a panic after she discovered a dark mark in her baby daughter Bella’s mouth.

But after a mortifying emergency doctor’s visit, the mom realised the dark mark that appeared on Bella’s hard palate was a piece of cardboard the baby had tried to swallow.

In a post shared on her Facebook page, the frantic mom, who’s from the US, wrote that she was playing with her daughter when she noticed the dark mark in her mouth. Darian tried to “wipe it to see if it would come off”.

But when the mark stayed put, she rushed her baby girl to the emergency room, The Sun reports.

“I get to the doctors and the nurse practitioner tried to wipe it, and said she’d never seen anything like it,” she wrote.

“She decides to consult with the doctors and they suggest maybe a birthmark. I INSISTED it wasn’t because I always look in her mouth and clean it.”

Fearing that the mark could be a possible growth, Darian was referred to a doctor, to whom she pointed out that the medical mystery “looks a little white on the side”.

“And she really gets in there trying to scrape it. Only to find out it was cardboard from a box Bella chewed stuck to the roof of her mouth.

“I can never show my face in that office again,” Darian added. “I cried/laughed for a solid five minutes straight.”

The post went viral and hit a whopping 30 000 likes on Facebook. Darian also received reassurances from other moms who’d experienced similar funny parenting moments, Metro reports.
