Hollywood actors and actresses are known for sticking to some of the strictest diets imaginable, and in a recent interview with People magazine, Jennifer Garner admitted that when it comes to food her children are allowed to eat, she keeps things super strict.

“I’m not worried so much about junk food, because we don’t have it in the house – although I don’t want to be a freak about it so that they just want to get their hands on it at all costs.”

She explains that she wants their diet to consist of "a rainbow of flavours and of foods".

She not only grows her own fruit and vegetables, but the mom-of-three also owns chickens and tends a beehive, all in the backyard of her home!

No stranger to farming, the actress shared that being this involved in food is something she grew up with.

"When I was a kid, I didn’t like tomatoes, but then my mom grew cherry tomatoes, and if I picked them straight off the vine...

"My oldest didn’t like blueberries until we had blueberry bushes. Now in blueberry season we take colanders down every night and they bring their friends over and we pick."

Jennifer is also an amateur food show host, presenting her very own "Pretend Cooking Show" on Instagram.

Despite her obvious love of food, Jennifer says fans should not hold their breath for an upcoming cookbook, swearing that she's a recipe follower, not maker.

"Cookbook author" may not be on the cards for the actress but she has tested her entrepreneurial skills with her organic baby food products, Once Upon a Farm.

The products were inspired by her dissatisfaction with the quality of baby food on film sets and she cooked up her very own brand.

We'll keep our eyes peeled for what the self-professed "mom-cook" will do next.
