By 2015 the world was predicted to have made significant developments in the form of dog-walking drones and flying cars, according to Marty McFly and Doc Brown anyway. But while the scientists, engineers, doctors and creatives work tirelessly towards a future that looks a lot like Back To The Future, we certainly have made significant technological developments.

If you don’t believe, just think back to dinner time with the family when you were growing up, compared to distracted dinners in 2017 that can only commence once your meal’s been snapped, filtered and uploaded to Instagram: #foodie #instafood #nomnomnom.

Sounds familiar? Despite what you may think, it’s not just videogame-fixated kids and rebellious teens who are constantly staring at their phones through family meal times. We’re all just a little obsessed with maintaining our feeds.

In a series of ads titled #DeviceFreeDinner for Common Sense Media, Will Ferrell posed as a device-obsessed dad and as anticipated, we are in stitches! Check out the adverts below.

While we absolutely love these adverts it certainly has gotten us thinking that maybe we too should embrace #DeviceFreeDinner.

Who knows, we might actually find that we love each other’s company and learn to communicate our feelings in more than just emojis.
