What do you do when you’re 41 weeks pregnant, scheduled for a caesarean, end up receiving a c-section and find that there’s absolutely no baby?

What?

According to The Stir, this is what happened to a 37-year-old woman from Brazil. She was admitted to a hospital after experiencing some abdominal pain. She was then scheduled for an emergency caesarean because during the sonar the doctor was not able to find a heartbeat.

They went through with the C-section because she looked pregnant and was experiencing all the symptoms of a pregnant woman.

She went through all the motions including changing menstrual cycle, experiencing heavy PMS and even her breasts became tender; she said she just knew that she was pregnant.

She waited and took a pregnancy test, but the results were negative; however she didn’t believe the test because her body was telling a totally different story.

She didn’t want to believe the results that the test gave her; she made herself believe that the fault lay with the test, not with her.

Then three weeks later, she got her period.

“Phantom” pregnancy

This is a common condition amongst women when they are convinced that they are really pregnant; nothing and no one can persuade them otherwise. When this happens, your body starts going through changes, you might pick up a little weight, experience nausea and even not get your period for a while. It’s like a mind-game that your body plays with you.

This is what the woman from Brazil experienced.

Do you think it's possible to 'carry' a false pregnancy to term?
