When you first find out you’re pregnant, you’re over the moon. Emotions range from ecstatic to trembling with fear, but it’s usually the good kind of fear. More than anything you’re just excited to be bringing a little human into the world and watching him or her grow.
But for many women, the journey is sometimes cut short and they find themselves battling the heartbreaking loss.
In a recent interview, actress Gabrielle Union opened up about struggling to conceive with husband Dwayne Wade and told PEOPLE that she has actually had “eight or nine miscarriages”.

“For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant – I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle,” she admitted.
She explains that it’s easier to just tell people that you don’t want children when you’ve been struggling for so long. So instead of opening up about something that can be quite taxing on you, you try to push it aside. But that’s not always easy to do.
She told PEOPLE, “I never wanted kids… Then I became a stepmom, and there was no place I’d rather be than with them.”
Gabrielle says that she and Wade “remain bursting with love” and ready to do anything to meet the child they’ve both dreamed of.
We certainly hope that day comes soon for the happy couple.
