Enlarged adenoids

Swollen lymphatic tissue found in the airway between the nose and the back of the throat.

Symptoms:

  • Snoring, 
  • Breathing throughthe mouth. 
  • Waking often at night because of breathing difficulties. 
  • Nasal voice. 
  • Your child may also get recurrent ear infections.

Seriousness:

  • Treat at home if symptoms are mild as the adenoids may shrink with age. 
  • Your child must see a doctor if she snores a lot or has speech problems or recurring ear infections.

Treatment:

  • Keep your child's room moist with a humidifier and encourage her to sleep on her side.
