Failure to thrive
What is it?

If your baby does not grow according to expectation, or loses weight, the doctor may describe this as failure to thrive.

What to do
Failure to thrive is often caused by feeding problems, or by a physical abnormality that prevents the child from eating and absorbing nutrition normally. Keeping a regular check on your baby’s growth is important, so that any problem can be detected early and dealt with.
