Tuberculosis

A bacterial infection most often in the lungs, that can spread through the lymph nodes and the bloodstream to any organ of the body. 

Symptoms:

  • A cough that lasts longer than three weeks
  • Weight loss
  • Listlessness and malaise 
  • A temperature 
  • Night sweats 

Seriousness:

  • Take your child to the doctor for a sputum test, especially if a family member has TB.
  • Babies are especially at risk. 

Treatment:

  • Children are easy to treat and TB is completely curable if detected early and the full treatment is completed.
