Since becoming a parent, your approach to teachers has most likely changed from the duck-and-dive days to actively engaging with your child's educator, hoping that he or she exhibits the kind of love for teaching that would positively impact your child's life.
And if we could hypothetically hand pick our children's educators, we would most likely choose someone like Ms Carter.
An educator at the Chicago Excel Academy in the US, LaShonda Carter shared a touching video in which she explains the unique way she found herself assisting a former student.
"So I had a previous student of mine reach out to me about 2 or 3 o'clock this morning and told me she recently had a baby. She was kinda going through some things, going through some struggles, and she needed to get to a job fair today. So I came and got her this morning, and she is at the job fair now and I'm sitting inside my car holding her 5-week-old beautiful baby girl. Sometimes as a teacher, our job goes beyond the classroom."

LaShonda also went online to set up a GoFundMe page for Larresha and her baby Taliyah, calling for donations to get the young mom on her feet.
Explaining her motivation for the act of kindness, LaShonda said that she wanted Larresha to know that success was still possible despite her current predicament.
"A teenage mother does not equal failure... she can still be successful," she said.
Despite the flood of comments both applauding and (of course) criticising LaShonda, the teacher says her efforts are just another element of teaching that goes under the radar. Teachers buy supplies for kids, say says, they're "doing that and doing this... it's another part of being an educator that I don't think people ever see."
With the school year just now kicking in, here's to all the LaShonda Carters out there. Your effort literally shapes the future and your passion makes all the difference.
