A father’s social media post has touched the hearts of many parents after he allowed his bullied son to paint his nails in a bid to promote the message of tolerance.
Luken (5), who lives in the small village of Bedia in Spain, absolutely loves to have his nails decorated but recently asked his parents to remove it because his school friends mocked him and even used homophobic slurs.
Instead of approaching the school or the parents of the bullies, Luken’s father, Jesus Fernando Ruiz, decided to set an example and educate youngsters on the importance of diversity.
The proud dad decided to help his son paint his nails and even stylishly decorated his own.
Jesus then took numerous snaps to post online and captioned it: “I ask other parents to consider the ideas they want to put into developing minds and the long-term effects those thoughts will have.”
The inspiring post of their painted hands went viral and attracted more than 26, 000 likes and thousands of comments.
“Many people don’t realise the damage they do when promoting intolerance,” Jesus told local media.
“I posted this on Facebook because I was angry and wanted to send a message to other parents, but I didn’t expect it to go viral.”
“There are a lot of parents who are going through similar situations and wrote to thank me, but there were also some negative comments. Not many, but a few.”
