Lilly Allen became famous for her hard-partying ways, now the mother-of-two has gone from downing drinks to donating her own breast milk to mothers in need.
The 34-year-old British pop star has been helping premature babies whose mothers can’t produce enough breast milk, Daily Mail reports.
The Smile singer said donating to Hammersmith Hospital in West London was an amazing experience, The Guardian reports.
“It became obvious my daughter wasn’t going to take it. I pumped it into freezer bags and then it was sterilised and given to premature babies, because their mothers’ milk hadn’t come in yet,” she said.
The singer gave birth to her first child, Ethel, in 2011 while her second daughter, Marnie, was born in 2013.
Last year she divorced the children’s father, decorator Sam Cooper.
Even though the singer-songwriter used to be a smoker she was able to donate her breast milk because she’d quit the habit before having children.
“Having children triggered responsibilities,” she said of her wilder days.
'I'm surprised I'm not dead.”
In 2017 Lilly revealed she’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had suffered post-traumatic stress after her son was stillborn at six months.
“Spending three months in a psychiatric ward wasn't a positive experience at the time, but I came out of it slightly healthier than when I went in,” she said.
