What’s a matric ball without the perfect outfit, perfect hair and, of course, a dreamy date?
Well, a date could be the toughest part – especially if you were more into your books than gals or guys, but this American teen broke with tradition when he decided to ask his mother to be his prom date.
According to Atlanta Black Star, 18-year-old Nassir, who attends O'Hara high school in Pennsylvania, took his mother, Fatima, as his prom date because she had missed her own as she’d given birth to him just a few months earlier.
In an Instagram post Fatima shared how Nassir asked her to be his date.
“Son: Mom, would you like to be my date to my senior prom?”
“Mom: Aww. What made you ask me?”
“Son: Because I remember when you were getting ready for my 8th grade formal you told me that you didn’t go to your senior prom because you had me six months prior & yours rather spend your money on your 1st apartment..”
“Mom: I would be honored!! Son: You deserve it!” a proud Fatima wrote.
The single mother also added she knew at that moment she’d done a good job raising her boy.
BET reported the mother and son’s gorgeous emerald-green ensembles were custom designed by Dahsar by Rashad and their pretty pics were taken by Philadelphia-based photographer, Dionté Wade.
