A clip of what appears to be a small breed dog mounting an infant recently went viral on social media causing an uproar from users.

While the identity of the person taking the clip remains undisclosed, many tweeps were outraged after watching a dog humping a baby on what appears to be a low lying bed. Although the baby was left unharmed, concerns were raised about the dangers of leaving infants in the presence of domesticated animals.

Some users even pointed out that the baby should’ve been a priority rather than recording the ordeal first, “I love how instead of telling the humping dog to get off the baby, they pull out their phone and record it.”

According to ASPCA, dogs mount/hump or thrust objects and sometimes humans to display their dominance and in some cases this maybe a response to stress. DogVills suggests that in the event that your dog humps your baby which should be harmless, it would be advisable to separate the dog initially for the baby’s support.

Another alternative would be to introduce an item that smells like the baby to the dog, to create a familiarity with the scent. And if the dog humps the blanket for example, remove it immediately.
