A thank you note, to all of you

There are loads of parenting magazines, websites and books available. If you’re looking for resources to help you, you can find them easily. What is special about Parent24, however, is that we also have a community of some of the friendliest, most supportive parents around.

I love Twitter for this reason: You can tap into all sorts of wisdom from people, and make friends, sometimes online, sometimes “in real life”, many of them parents, just like you.

Recently, I wrote something on prams, and put the link on Twitter. One expectant mom saw it and asked me how to about selecting a pram. Another friend saw the conversation and joined in. She offered to go pram shopping with the first person. They’d never met before. I reckon there’s a budding friendship, and it was as easy as jumping into a conversation.

We’ve seen births live-Tweeted, and have sat biting our nails as we wait for news from friends who have taken their sick kids to the emergency room. We’ve seen moms in tears after yet another sleepless night being cheered up, moms with new babies being given sound advice, and parents looking for tips on what to do with kids over a weekend being told about secret, fun places they may never have otherwise discovered.

That’s community!

  • Why not give Twitter a bash? Take a look at some of the awesome moms and dads Parent24 is following, for a start, and get chatting.
  • On the main Parent24 site, we have forums where you can ask for tips from other parents. You can also ask our team of experts those questions which (along with your kids) are keeping you up at night.
  • If Facebook is your style, you probably already know that our Facebook page is a great place to chat and enter some exciting competitions. You can send us pictures of your kids, or tell us all about your parenting experiences.
  • We have a growing community of bloggers, who share almost everything, from tears to party ideas- it’s a lovely place to interact with real people. No two kids are the same, but parents all seem to go through similar challenges.
  • You may be a Pinterest addict, like many of us- why not check out what Parent24 is pinning? If you’re not sure what it is, we’ll happily help get you started.

If you’d like an easy way to get to these Parent24 features, you could download our specially-created Parent24 toolbar. It makes finding your way around the main site as well as interacting with our social media communities really easy.

To all of you who love to chat, encourage, share wisdom and support other parents, thank you. YOU make Parent24 an awesome community for anyone who happens to visit.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received as a parent? Tell us about it at Chatback, and you could be the winner of a R250 kalahari.com voucher.
