'Calm down, Mom!'
I am a raging mass of bad temper, stomping around and yelling incoherently. Why? Wish I knew, really. Sometimes the everyday irritation mutates into rage. I suspect it's more to do with my underlying mood than any particular transgression by one of my sons.
When my teen was small, he would cower away from this red-faced shouting version of his fun-loving mother. But his little brother never really seemed phased by me, no matter how volcanic my rage. It was never a useful parenting tool, that's for sure.
Here are some other parents as volcanos:
Mother grows a horn
When a mother snaps
Lawyer Mom snaps
I really do try to keep a lid on my temper, but I think it's a rare parent who never, ever loses their rage. Am I right? Do you strip it sometimes like me? Please confess, you could win a temper-soothing grey Parent24 T-shirt.
