A new friend's mom came through the house the other day. She immediately noticed our beautiful wooden floors - and the newly sanded patch by the door.
'Oh, are you resanding the floors?'
No, I explained, it's just the way the floor gets scraped by all the junk that is thrown down inside the door. Yes, the toolbox, school bags and rugby boots. And so on.
It just passes for normal around here.
