116 hours of labour

accreditation
After 9 months of being pregnant and growing day by day, most women can't wait for their little bundles of joy to finally arrive. For those who choose to go the vaginal birth route, it could mean a quick visit to the hospital or many days of pain.

While the Duchess of Cambridge recently kept the world waiting for 10 and a half hours as she birthed her son, we asked our Facebook fans how long they had been in labour. Some of the answers are rather shocking!

Short to long

16 minutes.
My kid was born 9 weeks premature and we stayed in hospital for six weeks after that. So yes - easy birth (tiny baby!). Technically I was in labour for quite a few hours I guess, but they gave me medication to make the labour stop. It knocked me out and when I woke up, 16 minutes later I had a kid. But in all honestly, They say you forget how bad it feels, but I haven't forgotten. Worst 16 minutes of my life. Haha! - Nadine

30 minutes. Went in at midnight and they prepped me for labour. I was induced and gave birth just before 6am the same morning. I can't remember how many hours though because I never had any labour pains. - Deidre

4 hours. For both of my children, but it goes by so quickly. You actually don't realize how long or short it is, because it just flies by. - Linda

9 hours. Natural labour and I was induced. - Petunia

18 hours. I was induced and I had a natural labour. No epidural! - Claire

25 hours. No epidural, natural birth and 3.19kgs at birth. - Leanne

42 hours. And was natural birth! - Tsholofelo

116 hours. They used a red pen to indicate the hours! - Samantha (*Parent24 note: Anyone who endures labour for almost 5 days deserves a round of applause!)
