CALIFORNIA - A Southwest Airlines flight travelling to Phoenix had a little more excitement on board than they expected not long after taking off from San Francisco.

According to Huffington Post, Flight 623 had to divert to Los Angeles International Airport when a woman suddenly went into labour on board. The mom-to-be was assisted through her labour by the flight crew, a doctor and a nurse who were thankfully aboard the flight.

The rest of the passengers on the flight were not aware of what was happening until a crying baby could be heard. Not long after that the pilot congratulated the new mom and the arrival of her son. The passengers applauded the new passenger.

Soon after landing, paramedics boarded the plane and the mother and newborn were taken to hospital. They are doing well.
