"Early surprise"

accreditation

A week later I started to get mild and irregular cramps but thought nothing of it. I went on as normal, doing some household chores, shopping and finishing up our baby's room before her arrival.

The next day the cramps were still present but still tolerable and I kept thinking they were Braxton Hicks. But later that night I started to get worried and told everyone it'd be a good idea to go to the hospital just to check that everything was still fine!

So at approximately at midnight the nurse examined me and said I was already 2cm dilated and in labour. She also said the baby was still really high and if I chose to have her then, I would have to get an emargency C-section.

It was a tough choice for me to make because I was hoping for a natural birth, but was told that I'd most likely end up having a C-section anyway because the odds were slim that the baby would drop after hours of labour.

So I weighed the pros and cons and decided on a C-section because if I chose to try to give birth naturally, both of us could get distressed and tired after all those hours of pain and labour, just to get a C-section anyway.

I was scared to death, signing all those papers, getting hooked up on all those drips and machines and being awake trough it all. My partner kept me calm and I was so thankful that he helped me trough it all, holding my hand as I felt them tugging on me trying to get the baby out.

Her first cry brought tears to our eyes, she was beautiful even though she was a little grey from not getting enough oxygen. They showed her to us and then had to take her away to help her breathe. I was stitched up and monitored and then taken to my room.

I could hear her cry and everyone came to tell me how beautiful she is, but I just couldn't wait to hold her myself. A few hours later when I stopped shivering, they brought my beautiful girl and I fed her immediately.

Our little girl, Cleo Dakota was born 01:30 am weighing 2.8kg! A healthy surprise that came a few weeks to soon via c-section. I won't change a thing about that day!"
